ATA/ 66 vs ATA /100 Speed?

I have a barebones system in but only have an ATA/66 -7200 RPM hard drive WD to hookup to this mainboard DFI that has an UltraDMA/100 transfer rate up to 100MB/sec. This will only slow down the transfer rate to the hard drive? Right?!? Thanks for all the past info. This is sort of a Du... Question

The ATA/66 drive will work just fine on an ATA/100 interface. It won’t slow down the drive. You would see very little difference with an ATA/100, 7,200 RPM drive. The RPMs make the biggest difference. Larry
