CD ROM won't read disks

I bought and installed a new Blaster 52X CD-ROM from Creative and it would read data disks, but it would lock up when an audio disk was inserted. After a couple of months, it won't read any disks. When I place a disk in the drive, the indicator flashes at about 3 times a second for about 20 seconds and then ejects the disk. It does this for both audio and data disks. However, drive is recognized by the computer and updated drivers have been installed. If anyone can help me solve this problem, I would be quite grateful.

What motherboard do you have? Is there another drive on the cable? Try disabling RAID if you have it. The drive could be defective. Try another cable. Larry
