CD-RW instead of CD-ROM

I am trying to set up a new Maxtor 30Gb HDD. Can I load Windows 98(upgrade) from a CD-RW,instead of CD-ROM. For some reason, the drive is not being found, and I can't load an operating system.

I've done it. Stock Windows Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/software/windows/startup/startup.htm and http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/winme/startup/page1.html) CD-ROM driver drivers should work for this purpose with most CD-RW drives,; however, drivers for a particular CD-RW drive may need to be installed on the Start-up floppy.( http://duxcw.com/faq/cdrom/cdrom.htm). You may be able to boot to the drive if the CD is bootable by changing the boot device in the CMOS Setup. Larry
