Anyone know if....

A dirty lens on a CDRW will cause some drives to be unable to correctly read data from the disc.
I am trying to burn some mp3 files onto a blank CD-R with Nero. I have slowed the burn process down to 2x and made sure there is no un-needed software running in the background.
The disk burns fine and Nero will do a data verification after the disc is burned. Everything comes out ok. I have tested the files on several different CD-Rom's on multiple computers and it works great.
When I try to put the disk into my Car Stereo mp3 player the tracks skip/jump in the same spot constantly. I can restart the track, or reinsert the disk and it will skip/jump at the same point every time.
I have tried different brands of disks and it doesn't help. I have also done a scandisk and defrag on the drive just after the problems started(didn't help). Lastly the problem wasn't occuring when I first got the player. It was working relatively well with the first 5 CDRW's that I burned and tried out.
Any suggestions????

Are you burning to CDRW's or CDR's? How are you setting up Nero to burn the disk? What Kind of MP3 player do you have?

I had a friend make an exact copy of a disc I made with my burner(a disc i was having problems playing in my stereo mp3 player) and the disk he made for me seems to work fine. Go Figure!
I can burn video files such as mpeg or avi's that use mp3 sound and they work fine, I don't know why mp3 data disks don't want to work as well.
I did free up a 7GB of hard drive space. I had only aprx 200MB free on my drive so I don't know if that had something to do with it.

Yeah it has alot to do with it ... Nero uses a swap file system to create an image of what you want to burn , before it burns it to a disk. Basicly that said to burn a 650mb CD you need to have at least that much free for the copy to be any good. In your case Nero could only access 150mb or so at a time and because it had to rewrite to your hard drive that many times, I bet now that you 7Gb of open space it will work fine. As for your friend burning an exact copy of the cd and it working fine .. nothing is exact when copying cds as all burning software such as Nero has utilities built in to clean up the noise and pops. Burn a cd now and let us know.

I turned the file caching off in Nero and freed up a ton of disk space and everything seems to be working fine now. Thanks for the help.
