i have 1 hard drive already in my computer but it ran out of space... i also have an older harddrive with a different operating system on it and alot of different info on it. can i use the 2nd drive as a slave to the first (already on my computer) without interfearing with its operating system. if not, how can i completly wipe out all information from the @nd hard drive. what are the risks of using the 2nd HD with the first? Thanks. 4. RE: TWO HARD DRIVES lbyard May-17-02 03:37 PM In response to message 0
That depends one what operating systems are installed on the hard disk drives, but probably. Completely wiping info from a disk is matter of definition. You can probably clean the drive by removing the partitions on it with a Startup floppy and fdisk (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/index.html). Risks and things to do to avoid mistakes: http://duxcw.com/digest/guides/hd/rules.htm. I'd start by cleaning-up the drive that is full. I could probably provide more specific advice on that if I knew what the operating is. Larry 5. RE: TWO HARD DRIVES HoDog14 May-17-02 03:53 PM In response to message 4

How big are the drives? Larry 7. RE: TWO HARD DRIVES HoDog14 May-18-02 10:24 AM In response to message 6
i think each are about 7 or 8 gigabites 8. RE: TWO HARD DRIVES lbyard May-18-02 12:31 PM In response to message 7
If Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup doesn't free-up enough space, then I would install the second drive as a Slave. The other drive may have to be jumpered as a Master with a Slave present instead of just a Master, but that is dependent on the drive. Larry
