WindowsME vs Voodoo3dfx2000/SBLiveMP3

I purchased a new HP Pavilion 6746C PC last
Nov.<2000> and have had nothing but trouble
installing Voodoo graphics card and SoundBlaster.
Also, and I see by other posts, I have an
HP Scanjet 4100C scanner and have yet to install
this device,as well.
I have heard that HP are now making their PC's
deliberately user UNFRIENDLY. They're support site
techs just tell you to disable, like, whatever it
is you want to install....disable the factory device...and just re-install the unfactory one.
Well, this does not work. Does not work in SAFE MODE either.
I've read the posts on the 4100C, and while they seem helpful/knowledgeable, have not helped me here. I'm even getting help from a more knowledgeable pc person via DesktopDelivery and he
is having a time with this stuff as well.
I'd welcome all comments and tips on anything I mentioned above, and would certainly appreciate any and all.

I put a voodoo in an HP and it was a pain. You have to disable the onboard video via jumper and then you had to diasble in all hardware profiles in device manager. HP told him/us they do not support installing agp video cards in there systems. lots of messing around and lock ups.

I forgot to add that the Voodoo 3 was the second agp GFX card that was attempted to be installed in that pc. First was a Diamond speedstar 16 Mb. ( S3 chipset I think)This card would not run! Had HP on the phone for hours, It would lock up all the time. After I put the voodoo 3 in it worked fine. But it was still a pain getting that to run.

To date, I have spent a small fortune on
phone calls to HPSupport. IMHO, give me the
PC Boy Scout Handbook and I could do no worse
than they do.
I've never quite encountered such a collection
of morons all in one place. They literally grab at straws when trying to figure out your problem.
It's sort of like they're practicing solutions
on you and your PC. Like you're a guinea pig.
