Dual boot stopped

I set up Windows 2000 Pro with WindowsME as a dual boot. Everything worked fined for a couple weeks. I recently tried to boot to WinME, but I get "Invalid System Disk, Remove disk, hit any key to continue." Windows 2000 Pro works fine.
Any ideas? It would be nice to have ME to run a few programs I have that don't support 2000 Pro.

I wonder if you could provide a clue. Did you install any software just before the problem started? Also, suggest running a virus scan and running scandisk on the Windows Me partition (disk) from a Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/winme/startup/page1.html). Larry

I ran scandisk from a Win98 startup disk I have, but no change. I just ran TrendMicro's House call Pattern 899 on all my drives. It showed a clean system. I have ZoneAlarm installed, and there are no curious programs attempting to send data out.
I've been adding software regularly since I set this machine up back on 5/29/01. I don't want to go into the long version, but lets just say I didn't back EVERYTHING up before I fdisk'd/formatted/partitioned my HD
One thing I did do, I ran defrag from Win2KPro on my 'C' drive, which contains Windows ME. Shortly before that was the last time I was able to boot WInME.
I also ran Regcleaner and removed some entries it identified. Everything else seems to work OK. My network (using VSOCKS) still works fine. My games work fine. I just cant' boot to ME anymore ...

No SYS command with Me... I think I would boot to a Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/winme/startup/page1.html) and install Me from the DOS prompt on top of Me.

That seemed to work fine.
I booted to the Start-up disk that ME came with, and chose to Boot from CD option. Then I followed the prompts thru to a re-install of ME. It kept giving warnings, like I has OS2 or some other OS installed. I also "saved" my old Program files. It seems to boot up to ME now, so should I delete the "saved" old program files?

Unless you are getting short on disk space, I would suggest not doing it for a week or so. Larry
