Have recently had to re-install Windows 98 on my machine and all (fingers crossed) now appears to be working. However; at one time when I opened Outlook Express and/or Internet explorer (version 5) a dial up connection dialog box used to automatically appear in the middle of the screen, also when I closed out of either programmes a dialog box used to appear to allow me to disconnect. I have spent hours trying to get thes two functions back with no luck. Any thoughts? 1. RE: Dial up connection dialog box. lbyard Jul-09-01 08:56 PM In response to message 0
See if this fixes it… In the dial-up connection properties (right-click the connection), dialing check always dial my default connection. Outlook Express: Tools, Accounts, Mail, select the account, Properties, Connection, check Always Connect Using and select the desire connection. That should fix it for IE as well. Larry 2. Thanks Larry; Your'e a star. However; we're only half way there. I've got the opening dialog box in both IE and Ol express, but not the closing dialog box when I go off line. I've tried all sorts of combinations to get this up, no luck! Unfortunately the MS help files are about as much use as a chocolate teapot on this particular issue. 3. Try going back into the dial-up connection Properties and checking “Disconnect when connection may not be needed” at the bottom of the Dialing tab. Larry
