HELP!!! DLL FILES MISSING ON STARTUP!!!

Every time I put the computer on it comes up with an error message that I am missing a DLL files. This problem started since I rebuilt it three weeks ago. I downloaded them from macrosoft.com but without sucess. I've got Windows 98 OS. Any help is appreciated!

I do not currently have Win 98 running, but Try Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tolls, System Information, Tools… In that menu is an Entry to rebuild, restore, check system files, or something like that. Larry

...that only works if RESKIT is loaded ....most people don't even know about reskit ...... http://www.startdisk.com has an AWESOME startup disc "Ultimate Boot Disc " with so many ..."TOO COOL" utilities everyone needs a copy ....you'll never go back to MS!!!...the RESTRORE registry option should correct this problem.....restore the latest known safe version ....sounds complicated ...but it's not!!!!!
at this point if you get no satisfaction ....in the infamous words of Microsoft ......" Reload Windows" ....you won't disturb any files/folders outside the Windows directory and I guarantee your machine will run faster!!!!!

....really!!!! I stand corrected...I ALWAYS go into the CD and load reskit sampler ...just so it's there ....I don't remember seeing that utility on a machine without Reskit .....but I could very well be wrong and sorry if I misled anyone!!!!!!

...a techy could cut and paste the missing files from a solid machine or 98 CD to the System folder ....but this best left to the techies!!!!!!

I actually tried that yesterday, my friend sent me the files from his computer and I tried to install them in the System directory, it said that I allready have them so I just overwrite them. It didn't make any difference. It's probably more to it than just copy & paste but unfortunatelly that's where my knoledge ends in this case... (I should know these things better, I am doing an IT IV course). Thanks for the reply anyway, I really appreciate it!

like Larry said : use windows system file checker.
Start > programs > accessories > system tools > System information > Tools > system file checker ....
Run that and have your win98 cd ready ......
you dont need reskit !! It comes with the standard win98 install...
