Freserve windows appearing when using AOL

I installed Freeserve when I started on the net a year ago and had endless problems so I changed to AOL and now have few problems. However when I load AOL a window appears saying "cannot find IE supplied by Freeserve". I click it off as it seems to slow down the loading of AOL. If I try to look at Windows Update the same thing happens and I cannot get the Update. This Freeserve window appears at odd times. Any solutions please?
