XP vs 2K for gaming

You can switch WinXP into compatibility mode on a shortcut by shortcut basis for troublesome appz or games. It works like this: You have a game or app that won't run under WinXP, you right click the shortcut and choose properties, compatibility mode. A drop down menu shows you the different modes you can switch to (Win95, Win98, Win2000, WinNT). Pick the one you want and then your program will run.
Superb feature.
Im running counterstrike UT and Quake in 98 mode .... and its great

correct me if I'm wrong but since SP2 came out, can't you do the same in 2000? As far as gaming goes, until there are optimized XP video drivers, 2000 is faster FPS and benchmark scores.

personal experience..
playing counterstike on 2k pro my FPS were crap 60-65fps
XP2600 75-80 ....
i havent run any benchmarks but the openGL in games just seems a lot smoother
Detonator 14.70 on win2K and XP
Geforce 2 GTS

14.7 are not a very good 2000 driver. The 12.9 rock though

Ahhh i found it in 2K with SP2 thanks , had no idea it was there
With Service Pack 2 installed Microsoft have added a more convenient to use application compatibility mode. Although this isn't enabled by default. To enable the use of this feature click on Start then Run. Type in the following command - regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll & hit Enter. Click Ok when prompted that this succeeded
