Windows ME username

I recently purchased a 2nd hand computer with windows ME installed. Every time I install software or save a file, it shows the last owner’s name. Is there a way to change this to my name without formatting the drive?

Start, Run, enter regedit, expand the tree to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion, double-click RegisteredOwner, change the entry in the Value Data: box, OK. Do this at your own risk. It is always advisable to backup the registry before making changes. In regedit click Help, Help Contents, Contents to learn more. Larry

Bingo. Thanks does not say enough. This was getting on my nerves.
