Removal of Dual Booting

I recently performed a clean install on my computer, and then I installed Windows 2000 Professional. Then a few days later, I upgraded it to Windows XP Professional. Now, the puzzling thing is when I check under System --> Advanced --> Startup and Recovery, I see another Windows under my System Startup. How can this be? I tried booting into that Windows, and it turned out to be Windows ME. I do not recall installing Windows ME onto my computer. Well, how do I remove this then? How can I completely get rid of it?

Take the computer down to bare metal. Run fdisk from a Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/winme/startup/page1.html and http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/software/windows/startup/startup.htm) and remove all partitions. Then:
A:\>fdisk /mbr
To restore the manufacturer's boot track. Larry
