dual boot error invalid boot.ini file 98 & 2k

re:Dual boot 98 & win2k
I hope someone can help.
I've installed Win98 on my c: and it appears to work fine.
I then started to install Win2k professional it copied all the files to my hard drive and when it rebooted automatically apond finishing coping the files an error message came up "invalid boot.ini file booting from c:\winnt\ nt detect failed.
I tryed installing Win2k from CD and dos and both times received the same message , any help

yes 2 partitions c:2gig fat(win 98)
and d:4 gig fat32 for w2k

I think I would start over and remove all partitions with fdisk. Then
a:\>fdisk /mbr
to restore the manufacturer's boot record. And just create one parition for win 98. Run the 2K setup (insert the CD or D:\setup) from Win 98 GUI, create the partition for 2K, and redirect setup to install on that partition. Larry
