Uninstalling WinME back to Win98

Hi. A friend of mine has a compaq presario desktop about 2 yrs old now)that on its best day is a crash master. We upgraded her to ME and things are really ugly now. I noticed in add remove programs there is "uninstall windows millenium" I'm getting itchy to click it and rewind her to the days of 98se but am fearful of disaster. Has anyone tried it. Should I? It might and might not work. What have you got to lose? The problem is not Me. You probably nedd to back up and do a clean install. Larry
