When I had 98SE installed selecting shutdown would close the OS then power off the PC, I've now upgraded to XP Pro and selcting shutdown brings me to the "it is now safe....." page and does not switch PC off, any idea's. 1. try this...go to device manager and choose view then then select show hidden devices in system devices i think there will be a disabled device...just enable it and try to shutdown ur pc....i think it will work coz the same problem happend with me..
