New Computer

Larry thanks to your guide "How to build a Socket A Athlon Computer" I sucessfully just built a Athlon XP1600 - just chickened out on flashing the BIOS. Its working great except for a couple of minor problems. O/S is Windows ME - a check of the system under a Device list shows 3 instances of "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering (Problem code 22)". The other problem is that intermittently the computer won't wake up from sleep and has to rebooted - have tried changing the power managements features in WIN ME to all the combinations available but it still happens. Other than these everything works fine. Any ideas would be of help.

Are your referring to hibernate or standby? Is there a network adapter in the computer? What else is in the computer, starting with the motherboard? Larry

I looked in MS KB but didn't find that - thanks.
The mboard is an ECS K7S5A with an onboard fast ethernet adapter(used with a cable modem), AMD XP1600, ABIT T200 video card, Creative Audigy Gamer audio card,Western Digital 40gb HDD, Toshiba DVDROM and Sony CDR-RW, FDD.
Have power management set to: Power Schemes - Always on, Turn off Monitor - after 30 mins, Hard disks - after 30 mins, System Standby - Never.

Roughly, how long a period is between the time you stop working and it won't wake up? Overnight? Larry

Yes - usually overnight but has been as short as a couple of hours. - This morning worked fine - yesterday didn't twice.

Well, I've seen this problem a few times before and in all cases I suspect it has to do with the fact that there is a network adapter in the computer, and the computer has been inactive for quit some time.
