Right-click the link for the download, select Save Target As, and Click Desktop on the left (Save in). Larry 2. RE: downloads deerslayer Oct-10-00 05:35 PM In response to message 1
Well, I was aware of that way. but when I used to double click a file you want to download, it used to bring up the save as box ( where you choose your download loaction) now it downloads automatically to Temp internet files. I checked in the registry under user, software, microsoft, internet explorer and it says the download directory is c:\windows\desktop. Found this kind of odd. thanks for your help. 3. Try this… Start, Run, enter regedit. Suggest backing up the registry (although I usually do not—shame, shame) with File, Export (see Windows Help, Index, and enter “registry” without the quotes for details) Go to (click plus signs to expand) My Computer + HKEY_CURRENT_USER + Software + Microsoft + Internet Explorer Double click Download Directory. Enter c:\windows\desktop in the Value data box/field Restart Windows Larry

Enable the Always ask before opening this type of file option. To do so, use Registry Editor to modify the third octet for the EditFlags value in the Hkey_Classes_Root\exefile key from 01 to 00.found here http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q140/9/91.ASP Ed
