Win 95 USB

Can anyone advise where I could get an update for W95 that enables it to recognise USB devices (specifically a mouse)?
Or should I upgrade the machine to 98?

yeah you should go with win98
win95a (the early version) do not support USB feature
win95 osr support USB but win98 is more friendly to usb

OK, so I think I'll install W98 with a full version as explained on the site.
My next question is, will the network settings, installed programs etc remain, or will everything have to be reinstalled? (I'm thinking of registry entries and things like that being destroyed.
All help is very appreciated!!

No, no. That site has a USB supplement for Windows 95. Look for it. I checked on it a few weeks ago and it was still there. If you purchase 98, get the Upgrade version. If you have a recent computer, I would go with XP Home. Larry

If you already have the full edition, I would back-up everything (http://duxcw.com/digest/guides/hd/rules.htm) and do a clean install (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/upgrade/intro.htm). If I did not have full edition or any version of Windows besides 95 and the computer was less than three years old, I would clean install Windows XP Home Upgrade (http://duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/clean.htm) or Windows 2000 Pro. If you want to do an upgrade of Windows 95 with the full version of Windows 98, http://duxcw.com/faq/win/upgdfull.htm may be useful. Larry
