XP Hibernation

Hi,
I just re-installed Windows XP Home on my computer after reformating the hard drive, however when I open the power managment window, Hibernate and Stand-by are no longer options. It worked fine before I reinstalled XP, and I am stumped as to why it will not work this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS: Why can't I login to any websites from XP? This includes this site, New York Times, etc. It just doesn't permit me to enter, it returns to the previous screen. Any ideas? Thanks

Turn-off the Direct3D screensaver (3D Flowerbox, 3D Flying Objects, 3D Pipes, 3D Text, etc.).

Enable cookies in Internet Explorer 6.0. A lot of people are having this problem with IE 6.0 all over the place. Thanks Gates. Larry

Thanks, however I managed to enable hibernation/stand-by by installing the new updates available from microsoft (it was not under the critical updates, so i hadn't gotten around to installing the extras).
I agree about the cookie thing, as they did not mention this change in any of the mainstream help guides. Thanks for that tip.
