Win ME 'vistas en miniatura' for JPEG

I'm using a Win ME machine at work and we do a lot of graphics for flyers and stuff.
I'm not sure when the problem started, but there is no preview in W Explorer for JPEG's or GIF's. BMP's work fine. I've also noticed a hidden file 'thumbs' in some folders that have JPEG's.
I have recently updated to IE6.
Any clue what might be wrong?

Works fine on my computer with Me and IE 6. Image Previews Not Displayed in Windows Explorer (Q192573) at http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q192573 (copy and paste the entire link) might help. Larry
