installing from a: prompt info

hi, for anyone here that is installing from the a: prompt reading the faq below and has problems switching to the cd-rom drive, i have some info that worked for me.

the faq says to switch in dos from the a: prompt to the e: prompt (or whichever one your cd drive is under). when i tried to load win98se, i couldn't find the cd-rom drive letter. all you have to do is keep going up the alphabet until you find it. in my case i found it once under the r: prompt and in another it was like g: or something, hope this helps!!!

There is a way to tell dos what drive letter to assign to a CD-ROM drive driver in the mscdex line in the autoexec.bat file. /L:<letter>. Open a DOS window and type a:/>mscdex /? for the syntax. I’ve used it a few times for computers with multiple CD-ROM drives. You may have to add a LASTDRIVE=<drive letter without the :> line to the config.sys file to assign drive letters beyond D: Larry
