When I activate Disk Cleanup in XP it starts ok but stays there with the message that it examines the compressed files and that it will take a few minutes. For how long should I wait? Is there a problem?

Hi Larry
I waited for 35 minutes and then I gave up. I installed a program called "Clean Disk Security" and did the job. Afterwards I tryied the Microsoft Disk Cleanup and it also worked. Here is the link for the program:

You are more patient than I generally am. It should take few minutes unless you have a very large disk and, say, a year's worth of Internet browser history/temp/recycle bin files saved up. I have seen it take longer, however. I usually do it manually with the Window's Explorer, but one should know what one is deleting before doing it. Larry
