XP Updates and explorer

Anyone
Have you come across this problem in checking for XP home edition updates I keep getting a message that there are no updates available at this time please try back later I checked two days ago (i always mannnually update) and it showed several critical updates when i checked tonight as the connection speed is better this message appeared
A few days ago i recived a message in IE6 stating that
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2600.0, faulting module user32.dll, version 5.1.2600.0, fault address 0x00005b1a.

I checked the Microsoft site but could not find any reference other than to re-install IE6 but of course when i attempted this XP told me that I had a newer version of IE6 installed.
Has anyone any idear how to get round this problem of re-installation IE6 in XP home edition ?

I did not get any responses to the post but i did find out what was causing the problem
in XP it was an undsigned driver attached to my new smart media card reader which was a Pc world branded product no new drivers were
available so I uninstalled the unsigned deiver and all now works OK
So I got my money back and bought a Belkin equivalent and it had signed drivers for XP and to date no problems
So beware of XPs dislike of unsigned drivers?

Roger, Thank You for Posting back on how you got your problem fixed and what was causing it. I was looking for an answer for you for the last hour. Alot of people get there problem fixed and don't bother to come back to mention, how they did it! i will keep your fix in my folder for "Tips on how too's" Thanks again, Tom
