Do I have reinstall my OS and all the apps if I want to upgrade from my P3 to P4 machine

Hi folks,
I have two old Pentium III PC with the followings:
(1) ASUS CUV4X Motherboard (Based on VIA 694X/694Z chipset) with a Maxtor 40GB Hard Drive.
(2) ASUS P3B-F Motherboard (Based on the Intel 440BX AGPset chipset) with a Maxtor 20GB Hard Drive.
Both Pcs are running Chinese Windows 2000 on it.
I would like to know if I just want to upgrade the CPU and the Motherboard for both PCs (from P3 to P4 Processor), do I have reinstall my Win2k OS along with all my exxisting apps since the chipsets of both PCs are not the same as Intel 845E ??
Please kindly advise ASAP.

To be absolutely sure, Yes, you have!
It is not neccecearely due to the CPU, but you are intended to exchange the mainboard as well.
As you mentioned, the chipset is different.
You can also try it another way first beceause if it works, it is a lot quicker!
If there is a safe mode like in Win98, start in it, and delete ALL the hardware info.
(In Win98 to be found in Control panel, System, Devices)
Then shut down and rebuilt the computer. (DO NOT let him detect hardware right now!)
If anything is working with the new mainboard and CPU, start your OS and let it sort itself and the new hardware out.
If this works, you do not have to reinstall the OS and all the apps.
You can reinstall the OS and the apps if this will NOT work.
