chat server in WinXP

i re-format my drive and installed WinXP Pro i log on to the internet and went to my favorite site www.linktv.ph to chat. i waited for several minutes but it won't link to the chat server... thinking the problem was in XP, i tried to connect using Win98SE on a different PC and everything was a breeze... what seems to be the problem? are there special settings in XP? i also tried chat servers like Yehey.com but the same bad thing happened... pls. help me...

i went to the process written in the link... i found out that the firewall is enabled, i unchecked the box and restart my computer... unfortunately the problem still exists... i take a look at the other links but did not find any solution... thanks for the help... if there are other fixes pls. i would really appreciate it... thanks again... i'm still looking for solutions on the web... and won't give up!

It might be your Internet Explorer privacy setting. Allow cookies for the web site in question. Larry

this is becoming very frustrating... i already set my privacy to allow all cookies... but it didn't fix it... any other way? or should i return to win98 or win2k?

Eh, maybe I do have a suggestion--a long shot. I just went to the site and it uses a java appellate. Java was not included with Windows XP like the other versions you have. A court dispute with Sun… You probably already have java installed if you surf the net much, but just in case you opted not to install it, try this: http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html. Larry

I was about to mention Java also. The chat room you go to is most likely in java. Just download the latest 1.4.1 version and you should be fine. I am almost sure that is the problem.

i just finished dowmloading java... it was hot... at last... it solved everything... thanks... and more thanks... a friend experienced the same thing in his new install... and i already told him, and send the link... i really appreciate everything... thanks again...
