Windows Explorer issues, no properties or sharing

I have somehow lost the functions of some of my right click in Windows Explorer.
The delete, rename, cut and paste and such work, but the Properties and Sharing options for folders does not work. I can't see how large my folders are, and I can't share a folder for network access.
I think this began when I went to service pack 2, but it might have been a couple of days before I noticed the problem, so I can't guarantee that.
Is there some setting or file that has been corrupted in my Windows 2000 professional?
Do I have to re-install windows to get it back?

When I click on those 2 options, absolutely nothing happens.
It doesn't pull up a dialogue box or anything.
It's like it is ignoring my command.

I am the administrator.
I own all the files, and it doesn't work on any of them.
This has me totally baffled too!

I went to the windows update page and did that first.
Do you think I should uninstall the service packs? or reinstall Win 2K Pro?

Well, if it doesn't involve a lot of work beyind a clean install of Win 2K, I'd do that. We've already spent more time than the install would take. Larry

I'll try that.
On a side note, when I reboot my computer it takes about 5-10 minutes for my icons to show up and for any programs to work. I wonder if that would be fixed too.
Do you recommend using some program like Norton Utilities to be run periodically to check for problems?

That's nice to know after batting this thing around for a couple of days! It is one sick computer. The drive needs to be tested and may be bad... Right click My Computer, Manage, Storage, Disk Management, right-click C:, Properrties, Tools, Check Now, Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors... Larry
