MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2000/98 SECURITY UPDATE

Microsoft's Outlook 2000/98 Security Update is supposed to protect users from E-Mail viruses such as the I Love VirusI just installed it on my computer and now I wish I hadn't.  I rely quite heavily on Woody Leonhard's E-Mail Newsletter Woody's Office Watch (WOW) for guru level advice on Microsoft Office products.  I received an issue (7 June 2000 Vol 5 No 26) of WOW this AM.  I wish I had read it before installing the update.  WOW recommends NOT installing the patch.  According to WOW...

"The price you'll pay for Microsoft's hastily cobbled
together idea of email security is too high. The update
has many consequences for the day-to-day operation of not
only Outlook but also Office and other programs... To make
matter worse, you can't uninstall the update! ..."

The entire issue has not been posted on Woody's site yet, but I would suggest reading it first if you are thinking about installing the update.  You may want to download Woody's Cure for Love which, according to Woody, fixes the I Love You Virus, etc. problem without the irrevocable Microsoft Update restrictions.  While you are there you may want to sign-up for some of Woody's Newsletters.
