High-Bandwidth Devices are Slow
with Windows Internet Connection Sharing
Q. I have set up Windows 98 SE with Internet Connection
Sharing, a cable modem, and a two PC network. Now it seems that opening
web pages on both machines has significantly slowed down. Any suggestions?
A. Click Start, Click Run, and Enter “regedit”
(without the quotes). In regedit click Registry on the menu and Select Export
followed by Export Registry File. Save (backup) the registry files to a convenient
location like My Documents.
Click plus signs as follows
+ Hkey_Local_Machine
+ System
+ CurrentControlSet
+ Services
+ ICSharing
+ Settings
+ General
Delete InternetMTU.
You should not delete this key if you are using a dial-up MODEM.
