Video Boards
Last updated: 12/14/99
Q. I can't get the S3 GX2 video card installed
properly. Can anyone suggest the best driver and or method of installation?
A. First you need to find the manufacturer
of the video card. If you just have the board, it should have an FCC
ID number on it. Plug that number into the FCC data base at: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/ to
get the manufacturer. Use your favorite search engine(s) to (hopefully)
find the manufacture's web site. Most manufacturers have a support
section on their web sites where you may be able to download the appropriate
drivers and, perhaps, a user manual/instructions. As a last resort,
identify the chip (in this case S3's GX2) on the board and go to the chip
manufacture's site and download and install a generic driver for the chip. In
most cases, but not all, the generic driver will work.
