Q.  How do I set a drive to use DMA and change other device settings in Windows 2000/XP?

A.  Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, System Tools, Device Manager, Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, right-click the controller, Properties, Advanced Settings, and select the transfer mode for the device.
