Changing Display Settings in Windows 9X/Me

Q.  I changed my display settings in Windows.  After restarting Windows the display is so bad I cannot change them back.  How can I change the settings?

A.  Press the F8 key just as windows is about to load, select the Safe Mode in the resulting menu, and change the settings (Right-click the Desktop with your mouse, Properties, Settings... Display adapter and monitor settings are accessed with the Advanced button).
