I need help with a peer-to-peer network on 95 w/usb support

I am trying to set up a network between 2 win95 computers, and am having trouble. One is a 333 celeron machine with an Allied Telesyn fast ethernet 10/100 card, and the other is a 486 with a generic 10base ethernet card. I did everything the guides say, use a crossover cable, set up NetBeui for both, shared drives, Microsoft client for logon, and same name workgroup, but only the 333 sees the 486, and can't access the 486, and the 486 can't access the network, but sees the workgroup and itself. What did I do wrong? And what could be the solution? Are the computers just too different? Thanks for your time
