I have a serial mouse on Com 1 and an external modem on Com 2. Com 1 is IRQ/4 AND Com 2 is IRQ/3 just like on my old motherboard. I put in a new EP-58MVP3C-M mother board because when I tried to install Windows 98 the bios wouldn't support it, and the bios cost more than a new motherboard. I just installed the new motherboard and kept everything the way it was, but I haven't been able to get either NT or WIN98 to recognize that 'serial boards' are on COM 1 or COM 2. US RObOTICS has a COMTEST.EXE that finds modems on COM ports. Comtest tells me I don't have serial boards on com 1 thru com 4. What is wrong here. The NT control panel shows that the the port address and IRQs for COM1 and COM2 are the same as the BIOS PERIPHERALS. What am I missing????? HELP ????
