TC, you appear to be on your way. I would use one of the slower NICs for the MODEM. It is a lot slower than the LAN. However, if your cable MODEM is like mine, it "marries" itself to the first NIC it sees and won't work with any other (see http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Modems/cable/sb2100D.htm). I have heard that if you leave it off for about 24 hours, it will devorce that NIC and use the next one it sees; but I haven't tried it. I would use SyGate for a network or this size, expecially if you employ an NT server. See: http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Network/sygate/sygate.htm. Start small: two PC's, one of the two with the MODEM. Larry
