I doubt it is the card or network settings, but it could be. It would be the last thing I would suspect. Is your friend connecting to the same cable company with the same kind of MODEM? Is it one-way MODEM with a telephone dial-up or two-way? Is there way for you to check the max speed on the Cable MODEM? Some cable companies throttle the speed. Mine is 512K bits/sec. Finally, some companies have better connectivity to the Internet than others. Larry
