Larry,
I own a Compaq Presario 5620, this computer has built in sound card into the motherboard, I just upgraded to a new Sound Blaster Live Platinum, thinking that i would be able to disable the older card just by telling windows to ignore it and to disabled it from the hardware profile.. I was wrong, I keep having constant crashes, this sound card (the one that comes with compaq) can not be disabled from the BIOS. And when I call Compaq asking if there was a jumper I could remove to disable the sound card they told me that there is none.
I tried installing a new version of windows, hoping the Compaq sound card would not be recognized, but it seems there's nothing I can do about it.
Do you have any advice other than buying a new motherboard?
I also tried to reconfigure manually the resources this sound card uses, but It doesn't let me change any.
Please man, help me out.
Thanks
Ricardo.
