I connected the floppy drive to another computer and it works fine. The "HDD Controller Failure" error occured immediately after I repartitioned the hard drive. My plan was to follow with a format from a Win95 bootdisk but this is not possible now since I can't access the hard drive. On these older 486 systems, there is a drive card plugged into an ISA slot to which the hard drive connects. Perhaps the system lost the drivers for this controller card during the last partition. What do you think about my hypothesis? In any event, I'd like to revive this ancient beast and get it working again. Terry
