My mouse pointer suddenly froze up. I restarted the computer and during boot up Windows 98 gave me a message: No mouse has been detected. I went into device manager and under Mouse there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the seial port driver. I removed this line and went through add/remove hardware and added a standard serial mouse driver that is on the Win98 CD. It copied and installed and I restarted the computer. Same thing. Win98 doesn't detect a mouse. I went into BIOS and my Com 1 port is there with proper IRQ and I/O. The next thing I did was connect the mouse to another computer: it works great! I reconnect it to my computer and the problem doesn't go away. I checked the serial cable inside the tower and everything looks ok. What is happening? I hear you are a computer genius so I have come to you for help. Noreen
