I have successfully subscribed from a computer at work which I own, and which is on at 24/7 base.
It is an AMD 1700+ with 1256 Megs of RAM.

Victor.

Note people it's can also be run as a service in the background without graphical interface. You install first the normal version. Then you install the console in the same directory. Then you type in a dos prompt "FAH504-Console.exe -config". It's will ask for your name, team ... and to run  in in a service mode. After answering all question, restart the computer and it's will run completly in the background.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled again just before your post.  If you see LarryB, that's me.  I will leave the computer on today, but I normally do not on Sundays.  I usually use my notebook on weekends, but Windows will not fire-up--not even in the Safe Mode.  The repair console works and I can see the file structure.  I am going to try an in-place XP upgrade next, but that won't be today.  I am probably going to have to do a clean install before it's all over.

I am running an AMD XP 3000+ CPU with 512 MBytes of memory.

You would think they would at least show you as a member of the team once the software is installed and working.

The first download I installed was the Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista
"No nonsense" text-only console (with built-in Windows-service-install option).  I could not find any evidence that it was installed and working and no service installed (after rebooting), so I downloaded and installed the Windows 2000/XP/Vista Graphical client.  I saw the icon and that it was working on my computer, but no indication that I was a member of the team on their web site, and that there were many Larry's listed on their web site.  So, I uninstalled and reinstalled it with team member name LarryB.

Yes before use the console only, you need to install the windows version and then copy the console version in the same directory.

You can check the FAHlog.txt log file to see everyting is ok. you can also check there to see what % is done and configuration information.

Launch directory: F:\Program Files\Folding@Home
Service: F:\Program Files\Folding@Home\FAH504-Console.exe
Arguments: -svcstart

Launched as a service.
Entered F:\Program Files\Folding@Home to do work.

I think the graphical interface is projecting that I'll complete the first WU on 18 May.  I guess I need to clean-up this computer.

When I type FAH504-Console.exe -config at the DOS prompt, I get:

C:\Documents and Settings\Larry F. Byard>FAH504-Console.exe -config
'FAH504-Console.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Documents and Settings\Larry F. Byard>

Perhap it should be FAH504-Console -config. I'll look at it again tomorrow.  I've got dinner guests coming shortly for a Mother's Day dinner tonight.
