I cannot access Windows or Microsoft Update

Here are my attempts and their results:

Action:
Click on Start, click on Windows Update
Result:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Action:
Click on Start, Click on All Programs, click on Microsoft Update
Result:
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view.
I also get error code 0x80072EFF.

I can access all other websites and my e-mails.

I have used CCleaner, Spybot Search  & Destroy, SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and avast! Antivirus. I have not found any problems.
This started yesterday. I have gone to tools and checked everything out there as well.

boot up your pc in safemode w/ networking and try downloading updates from there.
