I have Windows XP Home and whenever I try to open outlook express it takes about two minutes to load. It used to be so fast but for some reason it is hopeless. I read an article about uninstalling and reinstalling it but that did nothing to it. Thanks

I would start by scanning for worms with an up-to-date virus definition database.  Larry

I have the same problem. I have run SpyBot S&D and have
run CWShredder. I have the most current virus detection
software. I have scanned and I have defragged.

I have installed all of the latest patches and upgrades.

I have tried to save away my mailboxes and started again
(in the case there was a corrupt Inbox).

(I happen to be running XP Pro, but that should not matter.)

Nothing seems to work.

Another question: is it safe to uninstall IE6 without affecting
all of my current mailboxes?

It might matter.  Is OE, Tools, Options, General, Automatically log on to Windows Messenger checked?  Larry

Hi,
I got the same problem while loading Outlook Express. But the article 327390 does not fit to my OE. There is no "tools - options -generalTab "automatically ...".
So I do not prevent loading MSN (via registry entry)and OE starts quickly.

Kind regards

Simon, I think that software is just for Microsoft Outlook, not Outlook Express - maybe it works for both,

Hi People...Name is Phil and i am noob (5 minutes) to the forum.

Not sure if this problem ever got solved BUT in case it did not
and also for future reference here is a fix.

Here is the reason and the fix.........

Sometimes removing or disabling Windows (or MSN) Messenger causes OE to open slowly. This will be shown by an entry in the system error log:

The server {FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

To fix this, open Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
\CLSID
\{FB7199AB-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}
\InProcServer32

In the right-hand pane, double-click on the (Default) value and delete whatever is entered there, leaving it blank. Click OK. Now perform exactly the same step with the key directly underneath, namely

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
\CLSID
\{FB7199AB-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}
\LocalServer32

Once both (Default) values are empty, OE will open normally

I hope this fix makes a few people happy  Grin

Phil Magic, Thanks very very much for your fix which I followed - blindly - not knowing at all what the whole matter was about - but so pleased afterwards to see my Outlook Express load up in a second flat. Again, many thanks for having helped on the matter.

Ever since I started running XP Pro edition a few weeks ago my Outlooks takes forever to start up (2 minutes).  I read somewhere that I have to delete the registry keys and when I do this it starts up great.  But then after I reboot the keys go back to how they were and it takes 2 minutes to load again.  I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but if you have any idea how to fix it please help me out.

I too have the same problem, but in attempting to edit the registry, I don't have clsid in my registry. Am I missing something here?
