I have XP on my machine and have recently been getting a unhandled exception c0000005 at address 100016b8 popup and a Promulgate Universal error. I have tried looking for it but am stumped. Anyone know what this is?

Sounds like a possible virus, but I have not heard of it. Larry

Daughter running XP Home Edition gets same error at opening, error reported to MS. Details of error, PromulGate Universal, App name pgmonitr.exe, app v 2.09.8, Mod name pgsdk.dll, mod v 3.1.0.8 Error signature RUNDLL, error loading X. The specified module could not be found.
Also running XP but could find none of above files or apps on my computer .Will advise of any reply plus will do a search of MS knowledge base.

Further to my previous, nothing in MS knowledge base, not listed in Symantec Virus Library. Have to wait on MS. FrankS.

Have you applied all of the relavent MS Windows Updates?
Have you searched
www.technet.com?
Do you have static or automatic settings in your BIOS set?

It took me a while to find what it is but its called the Deflin Media Player that is causing the problems.
http://www.delfinproject.com/
Is thier website, click on products and you will see what I mean.
"Built on the company's patented PromulGateŽ technologies, DelFin's solutions combine the best of television-style broadcast advertising with the Internet. DelFin's Internet broadcast network allows advertisers access to millions of targeted online consumers daily. DelFin's PromulGate technology displays your rich media message during consumer wait or "latent" times. "
I would uninstall the software, and go to start, run, and type MSCONFIG , and then click on startup. Look for PGMON and uncheck the box, click apply and then save.

Hi, as suggested uninstalled Deflin Media Player, went to MSCONFIG but no sign of PGMON. ? uninstalling the Player automatically removed MSCONFIG entry. Daughter running Win XP Home Edition, main thing got rid of Promulgate Universal error.
The RUNDLL error originates with some old files left on the hard drive after the supplier did a XP reinstal following a problem with Sidewinder creating another keyboard and killing the original keyboard. All traced back to using a 98 installation CD instead of allowing XP to instal the Side winder.FrankS
