You don't see the ports in right-click My Computer, Manage, Device Manager? Any exclamation marks? Larry

Your modem wouldn't work, even if you saw the ports.
I searched the whole Net for an Xp driver for that modem for a friend, at last he had to buy another one.
The only driver you can use is a generic driver, and usually it keeps making a lot of noise, also after (and if) the connection is made.
Hope you have more success than I had!

Modem Does Not Work After You Upgrade a Hewlett Packard Pavilion Computer to Windows XP
The article has a link to a driver, but the link doesn't work. That might be because
http://www.conexant.com/customer/
requires a login.
It also says a new MODEM might be required. Larry

Larry, as you said, it may be imposible to get the drive, but it seems i found one that works...
larry you wouldnt believe, its fully-functional and short; it now knows the name of the modem and works great...
thx for all your help
if u need this drive use this:
http://www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/63/63972.htm
the user name: drivers
password: all
directions: download, unzip to a directory, now start the lookup for new hardware, select look up in the directory you unziped it, now it will detect it, it says it is not digitally signed, but ignore, now its fully functional....
larry , this time i beat you.

Well, now you will have to start answering a lot more posts, won't you? Larry
I don't know if that web site had permission from the copyright holder of the driver to distribute it or not. Just because a lot of web sites do it and it's convenient doesn't make it legal or right.

www.driversguide.com
(modem-drivers is a part of it) is legal.
They want to register and then give you the name and password which is always:
drivers
all
It's the best website to get uncommon drivers since windrivers as begun to charge.
