Logon Batch Files
shoagie Nov-03-01 00:11 AM
Is it possible to modify my the network logon batch file to map to and install a shared network printer? I am running NT 4.0 Server with a combination of 95/98 and Windows 2000 Professional client PC's. The problem is with W2K Pro.
When a user logs on to a pc that is not their regular workstation, I have to install the printer for them at the new location. I would like the existing batch file to install the printer for them.
All affected PC's already have the correct print drivers installed, since they are used by other users at different times.
Thank you

I believe it can be done with profiles, but that may be cumbersome as well. Also, you could install all of the printers on all of the computers and change the default printer.
I have not done this: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q246/7/72.ASP. Maybe others have.

Synch all of them to an Internet standard? E.G., http://www.worldtimeserver.com/. That's what I use. A long time ago I used to synch them to a Novell server and it had a simple login script command, or something like that, which did it automatically. Of course, we hardly ever synched the server.
